My many Selves:The Quest for a Plausible Hamony

A Free Voice was launched in 2010.  It is for the homeless, low income, vulnerably housed, marginalised people or for those that work with any of those groups on Salt Spring Island and the Gulf Islands.  It is a place to hear their voice.  To read their poetry, fiction or real life accounts.  A place to view their artwork.  And (if we can ever figure out the technology!) a place to hear their music.

The hope is that it will showcase the phenomenal but often overlooked talent that can be found in our community, and maybe even help launch some careers!  It is also hoped that it will help break down the barriers between the wealthy elite and the marginalised people on the islands, maybe even open up some free and honest communication.  By helping to allow better off community members to see life from a different perspective we may even be able to work as team to bring more funding and resources to the organisations dedicated to helping the low income, vulnerably housed, homeless or marginalised people on the islands.

But above all else A Free Voice will give a voice to those that are often not heard.

Peruse, read and enjoy!  And spread the word!  Submissions are always welcome!  Email coordinator@saltspringliteracy.org
